Variegated Rubber Tree

Variegated Rubber Trees differ from regular rubber trees in their leaf color. Traditional rubber trees have dark green leaves but variegated rubber trees have leaves with shades of red, yellow, cream and green. Their colors fit the landscape of the desert.

Requirements:

Variegated Rubber Trees like well lit spots with indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, it burns the leaves of the Variegated Rubber Tree. Do not place a Variegated Rubber Tree in shade, it will lose the variegated markings. Ideal lighting for a Variegated Rubber Tree is a sunny spot shielded by a sheer curtain. If the Variegated Rubber Tree leaves begin dropping or losing color, it needs more light.

Watering:

Before watering your Variegated Rubber Tree, check that the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry. Once dry, water thoroughly. Make sure water can drain from the plant and water your Variegated Rubber Tree until water runs out of the bottom. Avoid getting leaves wet and do not let a Variegated Rubber Tree sit in water. Variegated Rubber Trees typically need water every 5-7 days in summer and every 10-14 in winter, or when leaves look wilted.

Maintenance:

Regularly dust the leaves of your Variegated Rubber Tree. Keep your Rubber Tree away from AC vents and fireplaces. It doesn’t like extreme temperatures.
